Roy van Rijswijk, a renowned name in the Dutch vehicle recovery industry, has expanded his fleet with the addition of a powerful Iveco X-Way recovery truck. Delivered by Iveco dealer Kwakernaak in Waddinxveen, this new truck is specifically designed for the recovery and towing of heavy-duty trucks and buses. With a growing fleet and a strong reputation for excellence, Roy has once again demonstrated his commitment to efficiency, power, and innovation in the towing industry.

Unlike many other companies, Roy deliberately avoids committing to a single truck brand, allowing him to maintain strong business relationships with multiple dealers. However, for this latest addition, he found that the Iveco X-Way provided the perfect foundation for a high-performance recovery truck.

Iveco X-Way Truck Specifications

The Iveco X-Way is a powerful and highly specialized vehicle built for extreme towing and recovery tasks. Equipped with a 570-horsepower engine, it features a ZF TraXon 16-speed automatic transmission and hub reduction on both rear axles, ensuring optimal power distribution and durability. The truck also comes with two 9-ton front axles providing enhanced stability and load-bearing capacity.

One of the standout features of this recovery truck is its Century 60-35 lifting system which includes a 26-ton underlift and two 16-ton winches. The boom can be extended up to 3.5 meters while the underlift reaches 3 meters making it particularly effective for recovering buses and long-wheelbase trucks. Given the extended front and rear overhangs of such vehicles, this additional reach is essential for safe and efficient towing.

To ensure maximum functionality and durability, the bodywork was custom-built from steel by Van Wynkoop. The final assembly and configuration were carried out in-house at Dutch Towing Equipment B.V. Roy’s specialized workshop. He emphasizes the importance of having the right tools in the right place, which is why he prefers to handle the customization and interior configuration himself. The truck is also equipped with the VDZ recovery system, along with a wide range of accessories, including heavy-duty chains, lifting tools, and even cutting torches ensuring that the team is prepared for any recovery scenario.

Given the nature of heavy-duty recoveries, it is crucial to maintain proper weight distributionon the axles. To counterbalance the load when towing large vehicles, a 4.7-ton ballast weight has been added behind the cab. This adjustment brings the total weight of the truck to 25 tons optimizing stability and performance.

Conclusion

The Iveco X-Way AS360X570PHRON is not just another recovery truck; it is a one-of-a-kind powerhouse designed for the toughest towing challenges. Its spacious sleeper cab makes it suitable for long-distance and international operations while its luxurious interior featuring Iveco’s advanced multimedia system and premium leather upholstery ensures driver comfort during extended shifts. On the exterior, the truck boasts a deep sun visor, an additional lower spoiler, and a custom light bar enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.

For Roy van Rijswijk this is his first Iveco truck and it has already proven to be a game-changer. He describes it as a perfect match for his business needs, emphasizing its unique design and unmatched performance. He has yet to see another Iveco X-Way recovery truck like this anywhere in Europe making it a truly exceptional addition to his fleet.

With this latest investment, Roy van Rijswijk continues to set new standards in the heavy-duty recovery industry ensuring that his company remains at the forefront of efficiency, reliability, and innovation.
